What You Will Find on This Blog
Thanks for checking out my page! On this blog, you will mostly find write-ups of my outdoor adventures, which I put together as a way to 1) reflect on ways to improve my next trip, 2) pull together photos from beautiful moments in nature and 3) to connect with other adventurers. Maybe I'll write about other stuff too! But for now I am mostly posting about the wonderful things that can be seen and experienced in wild places. About Me
Work & Education
In 2015 I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Environmental Management where I worked on life cycle analysis (LCA) research, mostly in agricultural systems, with Dr. Yiwen Chiu. After graduation, I participated in and completed Venture for America's (VFA) 2-Year Fellowship Program, which brought me to St. Louis, MO for three years.
Through Venture for America, I joined the investment team at iSelect Fund, an early stage venture capital firm focused on startups that improve the way we produce food and deliver healthcare. I enthusiastically worked with and led investments in companies like Kula Bio, Arable, AgriWebb, EarthOptics, Vence, Sentera, Brightseed, BCD Bioscience, Nix Biosensors and GeneMatters amongst many others. I left iSelect Fund in May 2023 to join the team at EarthOptics as Director of Strategy. We leverage technology, principally proximal / remote sensing and machine learning to make soil mapping better & cheaper.
Page Street Fit
In San Francisco, I co-run a Page Street Fit with my friend Aaron Wong, a fitness community in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. Our current offerings include 1) an outdoor fitness class, hosted MWF at 5pm, that mimics CrossFit & HIIT style workouts and 2) a weekly yoga class. Music & Guitar
I love seeing live music & playing guitar, mostly electric. My favorite guitarists include Mark Knopfler, Derek Trucks, SRV, James Taylor, Cory Wong, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy & Rick Mitarotonda amongst many others. In the past year I have studied / performed with band workshops out of Blue Bear Music School, but would love to play in a band with other Bay Area musicians.
Volunteer Work
Since 2018, I have been a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. My relationship with my "Little" is now long-distance, but joining the program remains one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am very interested in getting involved with youth mentorship, like that which I provide through BBBS, locally in the Bay Area.
